it's easy, remove bolts (1 each) on each side of seat towards rear of seat, then slide up and back.  Wait till you see all the goodies hiding there.

I kinda stole this from Max, tech section, (how to remove the) Fuel Tank

"there are 2 bolts that hold the seat to the frame, in the corners just above the upper rear shock bolts, 10mm hex, lift the seat back up and slide it rearward till the front tab clears."

If you have an S40 there is also an allen bolt just forward of the brake light.

Home Depot tomorrow for spacers and bolts

That seat really kills me, maybe beacuse the bikes too small for me

The lift helps a fair bit on the LS650/Savage - the s40 maybe better I don't know - couple of problems on the original 2 piece seats - you tend to slide forward on to the tank on quick stops inaddition to really not having your wide part on the seats wide part.

What has to happen as well is time in the seat - couple hundred hours and a several thousand miles and you both be broken it Smiley
