Looking good Lancer.

I do have a question though. If you use the foam tank and fiberglass over it, is the tunnel going to be big enough to fit over the backbone of the frame? I guess what I'm asking is, how much extra room is there in the tunnel as it sets? I would hate to see there be so much work put into a great looking tank just to be an 1/8th"(thickness of the shell) from slipping over the frame.

BTW, I am not trying to imply you may have made a mistake but I know how little things can be overlooked very easily when there is so much going on. I really do think you are off to a d@mn fine start. I can't wait.

OH yea another thing,

If you are going to be breaking out the torch and doing some cutting. Why not cut the neck and shorten the rake on that thing while your at it? Really speed up the steering for those crooked little backroads. Grin

SR steering head is steeper and about 2.5" further back than stock.

I am not confident enough in my skills and equipment to do any cutting etc on the neck.  The square backbone can be lengthened and braced before I do any cutting on the parts to be removed, that way I do not have to worry about alignment of the frame.
The fiberglass tank tunnel will certainly need a little more shaving before being glassed, since it has a near perfect fit right now.  I appreciate the thought and help, that is an important aspect to keep in mind when doing a part like this.
Since I am liking both of these tank & seat combo's I may put together both of them and would then be able to change out the look of the bike in about 10 minutes.

for me, it's hard to tell with those colors...

think it'll be pretty cool!

are you gonna have a pass. pillion one there?

I also very much liek the idea of lengthening the square part of the back bone and have been toying with this idea myself for a while.

What length shocks will you be using?

Can't wait to see the end result!

The fender is a lightweight fiberglass, so it will not be supporting any weight at all...no pad.
I will be reusing the 12.5" Progressive 418's that I put on last summer, they don't have but a couple of thousand miles on them and pretty much still look new.  I like them a lot.  I have a bit of adaptation work to do to get the neck bearings to fit the new forks tripple tree and to get the sporty rear wheel to work on the rear axle.  Once that is done it is time tobegin reassembly.
