exhaust Question
05/08/07 at 20:10:05

Hey everyone. I did a search but none of my questions were answered. I am planning on putting a sporty muf. on my bike. Which I plan on drilling through the baffles. My question is what jet should I use, I have a 152.5/155 for mains and 50 for pilot with 1/2 spacer, should I go down a size. Im currently running the 155 with K&N cone, open pipe w/ custom baffle. Any advice would be appericated.

Have you read the jetting/tuning procedures?  If not, you need to.
If you are having trouble finding them let me know.

Start with this, there is really good usable info about jetting & tuning.

http://www.mikuni.com/fs-tuning_guide.html

Also read the Performance Guide section.

This is written for the HSR carbs but the TECHNIQUE applies to all motorcycle carbs.

Cflow, how does the bike perform now? What are your reasons for switching to the sporty muffler? and lastly what kind of baffle is it?

Its really just too loud ( I got a ticket) for city noise ordinance which is sh*t. It preforms pretty well but I if I did some work to the muffler,I think  it would be better. the baffle I made is from a reducer pipe with slots and hole that I added. close to a normal baffle fro straigth pipes but it was free and 10 min. of work.

It was going to be $150 but since im in missouri the law says there is "no accoustical criteria" on exhausts  Cop didnt belive me, The judge over turned the ticket Thank God  So I didnt really have to pay the ticket but non the less I got it.

it's a subjective thing...  they're not really out lookin to bust loud pipes unless you're being obnoxious about it... you know, really tearing it up through downtown at lunch, waking your neighbors up at 2am... the show-offs...

I go to Colo. Springs sometimes to visit my uncle.  they allegedly enforce noise ordinances down there, but I haven't had any problems yet, but hten again, I'm on the very busy main drag, and, as we all know, if you are just cruising along at constant speed, it's really not that loud.
