Bike won't start after new tank install
02/06/07 at 10:41:40

I got a problem, I installed a new/used tank and now the bike won't start. It cranks and cranks but won't fire up. I checked plug, (not fouled) I have checked for clogs in fuel line, (none), and I just took carb off and checked to see if jets were clogged, (they were'nt)

I remember someone else had had the same problem but I can't find the post, can someone please help asap.

Next I'm gonna check to see if timing slipped.

Do you have a completely different petc0ck?  I'm wondering if maybe you have a petc0ck that is not vacuum actuated.  If so, did you ensure you connected the fuel line and not the vacuum line?  If the petc0ck is vacuum actuated, did you ensure the lines weren't accidentally swapped?

Try in prime,

try with gas cap off.

Is the bowl dry?

Try the old tank.

Ah, timing doesn't slip.

If you turn the petc0ck to PRI with the fuel line off the carb, does gas come out?

If you open the bowl drain screw at the bottom of the carb, does gas come out?

And check your battery!
I had a problem on cold mornings.
It had enough to turn it over, and it had enough to run it.  But it didn't have enough to turn it over and run it.
But I did learn to push start it!  Grin

Figured it out, it was the spark plug after all. Installed new plug and now fires right up.

I used the petc0ck off of the old tank, the one on new tank was froze up..
