I found some thick plastic washers in the hardware section of Lowe's (I assume Home Depot has a similar selection) that worked perfectly. They require no drilling but they are white in color and you may want to paint them black. I bought a bunch of them so I could decide how many to use (ended up using two on each side).
They also had a selection of assorted strong round magnets that I am using to support the side of the seat. I found some that were just the right thickness and just stuck them right to the frame to support the sides of the seat.
Just browse through the cabinets in the hardware section and you'll find a hundred different ways to make it work.
