Starter switch from Intruder VS700 800

I just bought a 1986 Savage to restore and the ignition switch only works sometimes (off or park only) with the key. Probably a mismatch and the key won't work in the tank at all. My question is, will the ignition switch of a Intruder VS800 or 700 work? The green plug looks the same?
For some reason they are half the price of LS650 switches with keys.  Any ideas???
Thanks

Ike

Could be that the wires have been pinched. Open up the loom and check all the wires. Happened to me some time ago when I was mofifying the rear blinkers and movem the loom of the ignition switch.

Thanks for the tip, but this is a mechanical issue, when the switch turns it is from off to park and back, it won't stop at the start (on)position, probably a key problem.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with the Intruder switches.  However, if it can be physically mounted to the frame then it will work.  If the plugs aren't the same, you can easily wire it work by cutting and splicing.

Does the dealer have one in stock?  If so, take yours in and see how it compares.

The number of cylinders isn't important...it's how you use them.
