i bought the 7" heat sheild from jcw and it was okay. i have a 6" extension pipe before my s.e . muffler.but you could still see part of the clamps. so i ordered a 10" sampson shield off ebay. but you can get them from custom chrome. it is awsome. alot thicker.

Today I graduated from dip nuts class 101 with top of class honors. The mighty S40 burned me twice today. Mind you not once; Twice! 1st on the right leg with the hot exhaust pipe, 2nd on the right leg with the hot engine fins.
Yes, dumb nuts Floridian me went riding with shorts on. I know; I know...

LOL. And the funny thing is you'll probably do it again. We never learn do we?
BTW, your rain suit will do you no good melted to the exhaust either.
But then how would I know that?

That's what you spend your time under the overpass trying to remove from the header pipe.
