152.5 Main/ 55 Pilot
HD Sportster Muff and Clamp
Modified original Heat Shield (check out pic #3, haven't seen it done yet)

Chopped rear seat foam approx. 1" Chopped plastic under foam of front seat (it was killing my tail bone)
Reapolstered Seats. Hand stitched the boogers!!

Pictures from my ride on Vashon Island Washington

Want to thank all of you here that have posted and responded. None of it would have went as smoothly without you.

Still to come:

Mirrors
Forward controls
Possibly bars (not apes but a little taller)
and probably some more bags/not sure on that one

That's a mighty fine looking YELLOW bike.
I like yellow.
The heatshield  mod. is a good solution for the installation of HD mufflers.

Tell me more about that heatshield!  Maybe I'm weird, but I think that the way you managed to make it work and flow so well with the sportster pipe is, well, worth saying more about.  I know when I lined mine up it was, well...ugly.  So...measurements?  Details?  Tools used?

Savage Librarian,

Here's a better pic of the heat shield.

I marked it while installed on the bike with a sharpie, then cut it with a small grinder with a thin metal cutting blade. Cut easily considering how thick they are. Then I just filed the burs off the edges. I left the point because it covers the brake cable and I thought it would look cool. I will have to paint the cut edge black, because I believe it will rust if I don't.
I didn't add an extension with the bend in it when I installed my muffler so I had to bend my brake arm to keep the cable off my muffler and the black to a minimum. With the extension I don't think it would work. But it doesn't look like you have it either.

That really is one sweet looking bike.  The more I look at it, the more little details I find that I love.  Way to go.

And yes, I'm probably a but touched in the head...but that head shield really get my attention.  I'm using the one from JCWhitney right now, and sure, it works well.  But I'm not happy with how narrow it is...man, now I may have to go dig my heat shield out of the box again...

Way to go on the bike.  Suzukis just seem to look right in yellow.

Hey SeattleSavage! Picture #3 isn't showing up. I enjoyed the close-up of the heat shield mod but would like to see it not so close up but possibly a little further back.

Let me know.

Thanks.

Ready to race? Mine is running again...

Nice work so far. Drop by on a Wednesday or Thursday, got some neat retro stuff in that goes well with Savages. Boss isn't there so I'm free to shoot the bull those days (and only those days).

Not quite sure what pic three was. Was at bike pics and started removing some photos when I remembered that they were linked here   Undecided

Lil Em, I don't have a not so close up of the heat shield, but if you go to http://bikepics.com/pictures/571559/ the picture is a lot larger so it would appear not to close, but not so far away  Grin

And thanks all for the posts and complements. Summer is almost here!!!! Ride be free, See ya out there.
