Cylinder Head Cover Dry Fit

The manual says "...when tightening the cylinder head cover bolts, the piston must be at top dead center on the compression stroke."

How do I get it there?

1.  The engine is off of the bike on a workbench
2.  The cylinder head cover is off

Thanks.

Put the engine on the workbencch with the exhaust on the LH side of you.

Remove the round plug on the generator cover center with a BIG srewdriver or a large washer that you hold with a vicegrip.

With a 17 mm socket turn the crankshaft

        ANTI Clockwise.

Watch the camlobes, when they are down and the piston is at it's uppermost position you are in TDC compression stroke.

Hope this is clear enough.

D'oh!

Perfect explanation...and now that I read it, it's obvious.

Very much appreciated.
