And so the fun continues

Well, here's where I'm at right now on my project.  I'm going to have to move the rear signals upwards to avoid the rear tire, and I'll be filling in the holes in the rear fender with skull bolts, which will match the skull grips I'll be putting on the apehangers (when I manage to get the cables that I've been putting off getting, anyway).  Still have a lot of repainting to do, and I have a sprung seat coming in (sort of like Sluggo's).  But anyway, I'm enjoying it.

I manufactured the license plate side mount from some scrap metal.  Turned out better than I expected.  And a piece of cake to wire up.

Hopefully when I get it all finished I'll remember to take the pictures in good lighting...

You also want to put it on a scale to see what you've gotten the weight down to.

Might remount or change the taillight.  You have it pointed upward and the amount of light directed horizonally toward the guy coming up your butt is decreased.  (Even invisible people need to be curteous enough to signal their intents.)

Other than that, looking GOOD.

but I don't see anyplace to carry groceries

Lookin' good. I'd round off the edges of the rear fender. Definately do something with the tailight. Maybe go with something aftermarket. Great progress. I want to see it with apehangers on it 8)

*wry chuckle*  Don't worry...the tailight is definately on the list of things to change out.  I've never been happy with the stock one, and the way it is now...it definately has to go.  I'm leaning towards one like this, to keep the same imagery throughout...provided I can find a DOT approved one (the LEOs in the area actually seem to enjoy checking for things like that)...

I'm figuring that this probably my only shot in life to own 2 bikes, let alone bob/chop my own...so I might as well have as much overkill fun with it as possible, ya know?

Yeah !! I dig skulls. I've been looking at that tail light also, but with a clear lens. Looking good so far, can't wait to see the apes. I think dynobob is right about rounding off the fender, also the bottom should come down to meet the swingarm for better asthetics.

I originally planned on rounding the edges out, but for some reason I rather like the squared edges.  A little bit more of a raw feel to it.

I did actually briefly consider attaching the fender with struts to the swingarm, thus allowing the fender to be almost resting on the tire...but decided it was more work than it was worth.  I think it's one of those things that actually looks better in person than in the pictures...it would also help if I didn't take so many of pics in a dark garage at night...
