Oil Drain Plug (Read 6 times)

Oil Drain Plug

I cannot remove the oil drain plug.  It will not even budge.  Could someone help me out please?

put a boxed end wrench on it then hit it with a deadblow hammer. remember, righty tighty- lefty loosey.

KLX has 2 oil drain plugs but only a similar amount of oil.

Hi Chris,

In Australia we have a spray called RP7, it loosens rusty frozen and sticky parts and it works a treat. Just apply the spray and then wait 2mins before putting a wrench on the oil drain plug.

In the US the best penetrating oil I've found is PB Blaster. You can find it at most auto parts stores.

The best wrench you can use is a 6 point socket on a breaker bar. It's much easier to strip the bolt head with 12 point.

Mine got next to nothing.  There was a small "blob" (slightly smaller than a green pea in size) of oil and what is probably very fine metal powder.  I assume that's the goopy stuff Reelthing spoke of.

that was it - must be some ferris metal in there some where - little magnet is fairly stout - believe some of the higher end/exotics cars are now using these in the oil filter

I've seen some aftermarket inserts for some canister type filters but I think the plug is the best we can get for the Savage.
