ok - to the coil -

the top connector on the coil where the Black/Yellow wire connects to ign module and is the fire trigger

the bottom connector with the orange/white wire goes to the battery (actually the ing switch) and is the power wire.

on the Barrons tach you have 4 wires - green for the trigger wire - this connects to the top connector of the coil, a red and a blue wire - one is for the tach light(blue one I think) and the other the one is for + battery connection (red i think) connect both of these to the bottom connector of the coil which is the hot wire, the other wire is black and this goes to ground - I just connected this to one of the bolts that holds the coil to the frame.

by the way is pretty important to get good connections here or the tach will bounce around or the engine will die on you if the spade connector vibrates lose - i used tin plated twin tail spade connectors from a boat store - these fit tight and do not rust as quickly.

There's not much wire to work with out of the harness to the coil.  Try to butt splice into this wire so as to reuse the original coil connectors that are metric 5mm.  The ones Barons supplies are the typical larger size with a less secure fit.  I can't find metric spade connectors anywhere  ???  Reelthing - how's your tach working?  I read they jump around a lot and have yet to get motivated to finally wire up mine.

until I had solid connects it would jump all over the place - but now it's reasonably smooth - may wiggle around +/- 50-75 rpm at times but not bad, and i'm not sure a single runs any smoother than that any way - I have some rf shielding but did not use it.

Have not hooked it up yet, waiting for it to get here. This is the tach I bought on eBay - of course.  Grin

6500 I believe - but I never go over 6 and very seldom more than 5500 - with the stock cam our real power band seems to run ~ 3k-5k

Yes I'd go with 6500 rpm too.
