The new toy...pics!

Since I've had a couple people ask me offline about it...here it is. As aquired.

If you look closely, you'll see a few years worth of cobwebs on it. But that rusty looking chain is in great shape.

Take a real hard look at it, the first muffler looking thing under the seat has a catalytic converter in it. And, it's just surface rust, the base metal is in great shape.

You can't really tell, but the odometer says 15,574.2 miles. Yes, the right side blob IS a factory tachometer.

You know, XT550s aren't little bikes... Maybe I should lose some weight... Roll Eyes

Not too bad for a free motorcycle.

Getting ready to check out another new to me toy. A 1979 BMW  R65 with windshield and factory bags. $2500. About as far from my former preferences as I can get, but, they are comfortable bikes.

8)Very cool WD! Now loose the front fender and replace those knobby's with some street tires and you'll have one bad-a$$ motard that'll go like stink!!

Just remember that the camera adds 10 pounds.  You look comfortable on that bike.

I've always said that only a rich man can afford a free car!

I could ammend this and replace car with motorcycle, and I think it still rings true.

But here's hoping that you're the exception!

Regards. Tammi

I wish the camera added 40 pounds...then I'd only weigh 210.

Tammi, even if I have to replace most of the expendable components of the bike, I'd only be into it around $1200.  I can live with that. I was going to use my worker's comp settlement to buy another HD, but, I'd rather fix up the Yamaha and pick up the BMW or a CB750 or Z1-900.  At this point, I'd pick up another LS for a major re-engineer to fit me better session. Loved the motor, the overall lines, and the light weight. Got tired of the cramped riding position.

Haven't fired it up yet. Still need to pick up a battery. Swapped the plug out, the Champion in it was only screwed in about 1/2 way.Just to be on the safe side, I'm going to replace all the fuses and relays I can find, delete the sidestand switch, possibly throw on a new coil, plugwire, etc. Inexpensive, wouldn't hurt to do.

A boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into. A car/truck is a huge hole in the road you throw money into. A motorcycle is a small pack-rat den that you occasionally lose some pocket change to.
