Need more info on carb spacer mod
07/13/05 at 12:10:21
Forgive me if this has been gone over a million times. I'm new to the savage world, but I keep seeing people referencing a carb spacer mod that will help the bike run better and eliminate the backfiring.
I looked around on this board for more info on the subject and how to do it, but I can't seem to find out exactly what is involved.
Can someone explain to me exactly what do/remove/modify? Are you referring to modifying the spacer at the end of the needle in the carb?
Thank you in advance!

Here's a good post on the carb business - some debate on a total remove - I have a different thickness in each bike and the '02 is still too lean midrange - may up it to a 157.5 and remove the spacer - in the past some folks ended up with raw gas leaks and flooding when removed - sound familr ?

I put a spacer 1/2 the thickness of the original one in my Savage. The midrange power is awesome. No complaints at all. Gas mileage is still good too.
