Savage with 15,000 miles?
07/10/05 at 10:40:13
???Hi Im thinking about buying a 1986 savage, was looking for a Harley to ride with friends then I found this site when checking out what they look like, pretty kool! Some great customs..I think I should be myself huh? And forget about the coolness that a Harley is supposed to give you, Im a dirtbike riding, Big wave rider (surfer for 35 years) Wakeboarder, and shark fisherman. Im cool anyways, I think the Savage is bitchen, Im gonna go drive for an hour and pick this one up. Is 15,000 miles alot for this bike? Thanks surfma

15k is broken in. Should live to 100K, give or take, depending on reasonable maintenance.
If you are cool you march to your own drummer, ride your own ride. A bike cannot give you coolness. But it can compensate for your inadequacies. Savages are only for those without inadequacies.

One thing about owning a Savage, is that you'll never be acused of tryin' to be like "everybody else" ... these machines are very unique in the motorcycle world ... some H.D. purists might scoff at 'em, but for the most part you'll find that the Savage/S40 generates a lot of interest from Hog Riders and old-time Brit Bike riders as well ... get lots of comments and compliments at the local Bike watering-hole!
Hang around this website and you'll also find that Savage owners are every bit as "unique" as their motorcycles!

The old '95 will break 20k this week and it runs really well - have quite a number of spares and a hot rod carb to put on - but until it coughs a couple of times I'm just doing routine maint

b-i-t-c-h-e-n - got it -
Lifters should only click - so if it's a clanking sounds like something a feeler gauge won't fix - perhaps cam/chain/auto adjuster related - or worse
Bet you can find a better one unless it's real cheap and your a gearhead as well as a surfer
