Turn light problem
05/29/05 at 07:45:29

Hey Ya'll,

I've got a turn light problem that's driving me nuts. (In my case it's a short trip.  Grin ) The lights only work part of the time. They normally work at low speed   ??? but at highway speed the indicator light goes bright then dims and no flash. As I get to lower speed the flaser starts to work.  Turning the signal on and off makes no differenceand wigglingthe switch doesn't help. I've checked grounds and can't find a problem.

Thanks,

Ghostrider

Has anyone had this happen? Any advice?

Confused, more info please. Is the problem only with your indicator lights or is the signals themselves also a problem?

What is your electrical skill level?

Thanks and Regards,
Rick

Sorry about the confusion.

The indicator light and the signal lights (f/r) light bright and then dim. They all remain dim until flashing starts.

Sometimes they work fine maybe 5-6 times then they don't.

Thought it might be a flasher unit but didn't see one mentioned in MOM.

My elec. skills are average.

Thanks for the help

The flasher relay is located under the tank, right side, near the front, mounted in a rubber square holder - had that one die on the '95 - actually most likely my fault - pinched wire under the tank - caused a short inline with the flasher - blew one of the 20amp fues and cooked the flasher.

Thanks Reelthing.

I guess I assumed that the flasher either worked or it didn't. That's what I get for assuming. Embarrassed
I'll stop by the dealer and pick one up today. With luck that will take care of the problem.

The replacement I got had a different connect -so it was time for the wire cutters and heat shrink - rated for higher watts - so maybe it will hang in there
