Well it turns out I won't be able to make the ride. In fact, my BIL is coming from Indiana for a ride but we have to get back home on the 24th. I'm thinking of taking him that direction. We could ride to Hot Springs the 22nd, ride Talimena the 23rd and return home the 24th. My question is, how long does it take to ride the Talimena from Mena to the end in Oklahoma? Could we ride from Hot Springs to the end and back in one day? If not we could at least do part of it. I also want to take him up Hickory Nut Mountain overlooking Lake Quachita, what a beatiful sight of the lake and islands. It's east of Mount Ida, the town.

The web site says it's 54 miles and takes 1 hour and 10 minutes to drive.

Yeah, I kinda figured that was measured by driving at the posted limit non-stop.

well, we've decided a date, now we need a meeting place(s) and a time to meet for the ride. as well as a possibly for certain list of attendees.
also, we need to know who has ridden with others in state patrol formation before and who has only ridden solo.

I'm still unsure as to whether I can go but I have never ridden in formation nor am I familiar with it. Seems like I read something once but it's gone now.

I hate to put you folks off and I sure want to make the ride this weekend but I think the chances are extremely slim at this point. The last couple of rides have let me know that the tendons in my elbow are not really healed enough for that ride. While my instinct has been to say skr00 it and bring some Aleve, my intellect insists I'd be paying for it for at least a couple of months. I think I'm gonna have to wish you guys a fine ride and find a closer "mountain" for this one. However, it may be possible to meet up with some of y'all coming from the DFW area when you start off... if not, definitely sometime soon.

Hey we are planning the Talimena ride for the weekend of JUNE 24-26 not this weekend. You still have 2 weeks and 4 days
!! If that helps. 8)

Oh man, just got a visual of that car (either a Vette or a T-Bird, don't remember which) on reentry at the beginning of the movie Heavy Metal... only on a bike instead. Wow, flashback!
