Does anyone see any downside to welding solid steel rod to a bike as footpegs. I know that the norm is to have footpegs that Swivel up 45 degrees but I cant figure out the reasoning behind it. Just an Idea  ???

If your peg can fold up and you touch it down it will only spark and scrape and you can continue your turn. If your peg is solid it will touch, spark, and if you continue to lean it is now a lever/pivot point. Your rear wheel will lift, spin you around and spit you off before you know what happened. You never want solid parts to be the first thing to touch.
