You know...I've heard others say that the Savage had a rev-limiter, but I have yet to find it mentioned in the SSM either.

???

I read someware that it is 6500rpm, that may just be the red line though.

6500 RPM sound allright. The limiting factor will be the strenght of the valvesprings. They will not close the valves anymore e.g. the valves are "floating"

THEY USALLY STOP REVING ONCE THE CON ROD COMES THROUGH THE CRANK CASE. Tongue SORRY CAN;T HELP MY SELF SOMETIMES Tongue

Can't say I've experienced a rev limiter per se, although my previous Savages just seemed to run out of air and stop revving at ozone revs.  I have seen it mentioned that the ignition clips at redline.

Maybe the rev-limiter is just inherent to the design.  The low compression engine just can't get more air.

I've worked out the piston speed and the bottom end should be safe to 6500, can't comment on the valve springs though.

MAKE SURE YOUR CAM CHAINS IN GOOD TIGHT CONDITION OR YOU MIGHT FIND MORE THAN YOUR VALVES BOUNCING AROUND Undecided
