Is anybody out there into weight reduction ('bike + rider) for performance reasons.
I've got 14lbs off the 'bike and 56lbs of Me, much better acceleration, what have others done ?.

Every pound that I took off the bike, I added to me.  So we're the same  Tongue

I like "light' but always thought the LS650 was just about right from the factory. The new Supertrapp feels much lighter than the stock muffler. I would like to swap chromed steel for polished aluminium here & there so as the make a "sleeper". Ideas?
P.S. Greg the new icon is cool. Is Homer out riding?

Greg I think You may have misunderstood Me, I lost 56lbs. So the power to weight is improved by 12.5%.

Oh, I understood.  I've taken about 20 off my bike and put it back on the seat  Tongue

Mr 650 the exhaust swap was the bigest single weight loss on KLX. Removing things alltogether is best followed by swaping aluminium for steel.

I am not ready for a reduction of that scale yet.
I have seen some great mods of the LS and like the bare-bones look. It'll  takes some inspiration to get a make-over like that right. One has to see it 1st.

As far as style, I see new paint for my Suzy someday.
The current tank art is angled funny and does nothing for me.
I think a flat track or Street tracker look would be cool.

My cousin runs Vintage Flat Track and has a cool BSA.
I think that is where I am heading.
The new pipe should add a racy reverse megaphone look now too.
Arizona Motorsports had a 150/90-15 Dunlop K627 in the blowout section for $44, so I bit.
The k627 has the raised white letters and the pattern is remeniscent of the Goodyear rain/dirt racing tires in the 70's catalogs.
I got the matching RWL F11 for the front.
That brings me to ask about aluminum dirt wheel(s) on an LS.
It seems that I recall advice against this, but think it would work well on a street tracker and the reduction in rotating weight a major boost.

I think I'll probably get a new exhaust and rejet for additional power rather than strip down.  In fact, I am considering adding a small/medium trunk to her soon.

both bike & rider weight changes can make a big difference!
i've lost 118lbs ( yes 118  Shocked) this year so far & the change in riding is phenonenal. of course i'm riding an 800lb / 100 HP valkyrie most of the time, but when i ride on CC's savage the handling change is huge.
just a few pounds can make a noticable improvement.

After taking into consideration the additional weight of my windscreen my total bike weight comes to 7.7 lbs less than stock.

I plan to add another 5-10 lbs to me though (Need the extra muscle mass to hit a 1000lb three lift total).
