Back in the saddle, again...

Grin It finally arrived. My 1997 LS650. New enough to have parts available, old enough that I won't feel bad modifying it.  I already removed the windshield, bags and bib.  Next, the Sissy Bar goes.

Which brings me to this... I've seen several pics of LS650s with a small bar going across the back end where the sissy bar was.  Are those homemade/custom made, factory for certain models, or can they be had over the internet?

In the meantime I had a ball riding around, getting the feel for it.  It came too late for me to get tags today, Argghhh, so I tooled around some backstreets where I might not be seen by the pistoleros.  After 22 years of cage riding, I was still finding myself treating it like it was my old 1973 Yamaha RD350.  Believe me, the only things similar are the size and the engine buzz.  But that WAS a good buzz. It was better than Prozac, fersure.

I generally don't name inanimate objects but I decided to called it Sookie, after the Steppenwolf song, "Sookie Sookie", and the obvious play on the manufacturer's name.

Here's a pic (GET A GRIP!)

let it hang out baby

Let me know if you find the bar to replace the sissy bar.  I want one, too.

Sure thing!  I spent three hours seaching for one on the 'net. Tongue  I wonder if I might have to buy a used larger one and saw it off.  Whatever I do, I'll certainly post report!

Grin Found a source for a "custom" one...

Peter can bend one out of stock for a very reasonable price.  He can get fancy if you want. Write him.
