I'd say a lot of people would debate that things like a library is "socialism".

My opinion is a lot of people would debate that things like a library is "socialism".  This is an opinion.

benefit to society vs banning books

That makes no sense.  My opinion is that makes no sense.  Banning books has been considerably more prevalent in socialist economies.  This is an opinion.

It is my opinion that the following references, that some will claim I "never" provide, support my opinion.

So far, maybe. BUT, those socialist countries didn't have Trumpedo, the treasonous, would-be dictator...

Catholic "exploration" has destroyed more books than any single country, especially the Spanish, who wiped out historic records wherever they "explored". (At least the Brits, under monarchy, just stole the artifacts and took them back to England.)

And, what is your definition of a "library"? Peoples without developped writing systems kept their histories and culture in the memories and stories of their elders. Hundreds of US tribes lost their histories to the US Cavalry. That doesn't count the ones destroyed in the US's never ending war cycle.

Libraries are definitely socialist structures, if they are public libraries. Tax supported, non-profit, and all patrons treated equally--- is that not the definition of socialist structure?

I think, in the list above, you picked libraries because you LIKE libraries, and like all MAGATs, things you like get a pass.

And, what is your definition of a "library"?

For this post, and only this post with the exclusion of all other known posts I would define "Library" as Publicly funded institution where books, periodicals, and other materials like music and films are kept for the public to read, study, or borrow.  This is an opinion.

Libraries that are for personal use and privately funded have no position in a socialism thread in my opinion.

Tax supported, non-profit, and all patrons treated equally--- is that not the definition of socialist structure?

I would say it is an isolated example.  More like socialist theory versus actual structure.  This is an opinion.

Socialist "structure", in my opinion would have the entire economy under government control.  This is an opinion.

I think, in the list above, you picked libraries because you LIKE libraries, and like all MAGATs, things you like get a pass.

I picked it because it is first on the list.  I can't recall the last time I entered or utilized a public library.  This has nothing to do with political affiliation, which for you is clearly impossible to understand, I simply think a lot of people would debate that things like a library is "socialism".

Your inability to engage in discussion like an adult here prohibits you from looking at this in a non-adversarial way in my opinion.  Nothing about my statement "I'd say a lot of people would debate that things like a library is "socialism" means, or suggests I disagree with Thumperclone's initial statement.

My statement is directed more at digital licensing and vendor-controlled databases that often force "public" libraries to pay excessive fees to private corporations for digital books and tools on the tax-payer's dime.

Nag, nag, nag.

You want to know how I KNOW You're a MAGAT, even though you deny it?

Your "arguments" are spot-on from the Trumpedo playbook.

You think repeating a lie often enough makes it a legit argument.
You project like you're describing yourself in a mirror.
You attempt to misdirect with irrelevant minutiae.
You never answer questions when the answer would show you're wrong.
You think you're making points when you're just splitting hairs--- again, irrelevant.
You love TLDR posts in the same way Trumpedo loves to talk, though I do admit you can actually make sentences whereas he cannot.

In short, you're just another MAGAT, terrified of a "leftist" takeover that would actually move the country towards equity, grasping at straws as you go down.

Don't worry too much; you'll have lots of company.

Doesn't matter because you are wrong.  Your inability to acknowledge that humans that did not vote for or support Trump can also not agree with every word you say, prohibits you from having any accuracy on the matter.

I say I think people would debate that libraries are "socialist" and all you can do is cry MAGAT.  It's the only thing you have.  This is an opinion.

If anyone disagrees with you in any way, you relate it directly to Trump.  Why does he have this much power over you?

A conservative member is currently interpreting my statement on this post to mean I am anti-Trump.  So you aren't alone in the ludicrous behavior of making every waking moment about Trump.

MAGATs, nobody is forcing you to accept anything. You can feel however you want about people of color, religion, abortion, etc. You also cannot make anyone else's life harder because of any of those beliefs. Leave other people alone if you're not advanced enough to apply the golden rule.

Take the LGBTQ issue. Why do you MAGATs care who someone else is sleeping with? You don't care if your neighbor sleeps with his wife, so why do you care if your other neighbor sleeps with his husband? If you're trying to impose your religious values on someone else, STFU. (Same with abortion.)

How would you vet airline pilots ?

When on the ground they can believe what they want.
When flying a airplane, full pf people, they cannot.

Don't remember anyone, Yelling about Raymond Burr and Walt Disney.

Is the difference between them that:

One did what they do, and kept it personal.
And one does what they do, and announce what, how, where, when, etc.

    And demand,
you believe it is perfectly normal ?
