TheSneeze, I am an architect, and I worked with a builder in southern Nevada about 10 years ago on a SIPs building, it’s definitely allowed in Nevada. I also did the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival ticket office using SIPs. It’s very small, but you have to design to the same wind and snow loads as conventional construction. This is all well-described in the International Building Code and the International Residential Code, not sure which version applies in your area. Your local building department could help. Given your building use, I’m sure they’d require fire-rated 5/8” gypsum board on the interior, it’s nice that they aren’t requiring sprinklers, that would absolutely be required where I’m living these days in AZ. Happy to see you making progress on the rebuild!

The county finally issued my building permit this afternoon. I am hoping to hear the framer's schedule in the next day or so, and the trusses are in production and will be here by the 11th. After 7 months, we are finally making some traction.

The framing starts Monday morning! The trusses will also arrive on Monday. I should have a structure before next weekend! Woo hoo!

Even with 45 mph wind gusts, and rain, these guys jus worked through it like it was nothing. Three more windows to frame and the north wall gets rolled. We will have all four walls up tomorrow. The roof and walls will be sheeted by the end of the week. It's such a big thrill to turn the corner from tearing down/cleaning up to starting to build!

In March, my shop burned down. I finally got the structure settlement, and the building permit. The construction of shop 2.0 began today.

Congrats on start of construction. I can’t imagine not to have my space to be myself. I’m usually at it 6 days a week , when weather agrees. What about a month till she roofed & skinned ?

Framing and sheeting will be done by the end of this week. The roof will come next, after the county inspector signs off on the framing.
