No and the nut is all chewed up like someone that had been in there before had used a pipe wrench on it. the timing marks are not lined up and there are other things that seemed off when I got the cover off. it had always been hard to start and never seem to run right even after I rebuilt the carb and replaced some gaskets

well, it's probably on the back side of the nut.
the crank nut on the clutch side is left handed.

If your talking about the timing marks on the cam drive gear it might be chain stretch ,and the PO didn't know the nut was a lefty and used the pipe wrench and hammered it the wrong way ,trying to get it off.Good Luck!
