As a member of the Solar Roadways Support Team I am here to tell you that article is VERY misleading.

Yes MODOT has approved to have Solar Roadways to install some panels ALONG Route 66, but AT A REST STOP...

And only minimal usage on actual road surface areas, mostly on the side walks and crosswalks.
