It is worth asking price?
06/30/16 at 12:04:58
For you antique motorcycle aficionados, is this bike worth the asking price, or close to it? My wife rode one as a kid and we found this today. I am going to look at it after work today.

If it runs like it looks,... I'd say yes...
...but,.. never start with an offer of full asking price...
Check all the rubber bits for rot, including tires...
I'd start at around $700... JMHO...

I have no clue what it's worth but
I
wouldn't pay $1300 for it.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

How badly do you want it? Can you afford it? Can you road test it, or get a competent person to do so?

Stew ,
If I had spent the time to restore that Honda - then $1300.oo wouldn't even come close to enough.

Didn't get it. It is in ok shape, but as expected for its age. Test ride was fun. Wife thought she wanted it but couldn't pull the trigger knowing the fun would probably be short lived

If it has low miles and runs as good as it looks 1300 is fair. But that's no fun pick it apart , all the flaws , title & reg , then start chipping away at the price. 1000 to 1100 . Does it have the spare snail fuel tank at left rear? That makes it complete bike and easier to resell.

Had a trail 90... was a fun little machine...
But yeah... $1300 is a no go here... its an 80'
Any 30 year old + machine is going to need some rework to make it safe to ride. Hoses, wiring ect.... definitely would.
I actually would start at about Half what he is asking.... if he looks at you nutz walk away, but give him your number.
Now you got me thinking about one.... LOL !!!
Guy at my work had this one

The bike ran well. The owner was a motorcycle mechanic for a race team so he knew what he had, and had done the bare minimum to keep it running so he didn't have to crack it open, etc. No proactive tearing it down but I understand. He was honest about all of its flaws. Not original carburetor, cracks forming in the muffler, some rust, etc. Otherwise it was all there and had relatively new tires. He (supposedly) had a full price offer from an out of towner and he was firm on the price despite us making friends and talking about motorcycle stuff.
Nice guy and decent bike, it just wasn't the right bike at the right time.

There is a whole cast of motorcycles I would love to own.....a Trail 90 is one of them. Others include an Ossa Mick Andrews Trials motorcycle, Kawasaki 900Z1, W650 and H1/H2 500cc triple, a Jawa Speedway bike, Suzuki T500 Titan & GT750 Water Buffalo....and a Yamaha DT1 250cc - which was the first real enduro motorcycle from Japan. The Honda SL90 was a dream bike of mine when I was young! The early Honda CB450, an early Goldwing 1,000 cc.....etc.
But....they all are cool bikes that I really don't need to own. I did have a Honda S65 for a year and it was cool to own - but it just wasn't realistic to ride on these KY hills.

Here's a W650 for ya. I think the price at $5500 for a 2000 is a bit steep...but maybe not. don't know the value of these things. It's in Brevard NC.
