1982?... keep in mind, those are 30 year old bushings, gaskets, seals, cables, hoses,and bearings...
If I'm buying a bike, old enough to be considered vintage,... I want something more collectable than an old Suzuki...
I wouldn't invest the time and money...
An old Norton, Triumph, Ducati,...etc... even a Harley or BMW...

Among Jap bikes... a Yamaha 650 twin, Honda Hawk, or GB500....

Resale on a GS750 ain't much... and there are 4 30 year old carbs in there... 30 years of rust in those pipes....
I'd steer away...

Dealer retail for an excellent condition GS750 is 1,900

If you're talking about an even trade, from a purely $ and cents standpoint it doesn't look like a very good deal.

I also think that 1,900 for a bike that old, that isn't really anything special, is ridiculous.

On the other hand,if you really wanted a gs there's no reason not to...its one of the bikes I wish I'd never sold :'( . Engine is totally cribbed from a kwaka Z1 and its pretty bombproof, cycle handles "exciting" like any 70's/80's UJM. Mine was an ex cop bike. don't think I'd stay awake very long on an ST. JMHO.

The ST is a bit surprising. It is somewhat typical big Honda, it rides, drives and runs without much of a flair.....it starts, runs and goes without making any big deal out of it. The weight takes a bit of getting used to, and you soon start to plan your parking space so turning around and backing up is doable. It is pretty fast - but in a seamless electric motor acceleration sort of way - the engine doesn't shake or make a lot of noise when you get on the throttle hard. The bike is very stable and corners well - and it can lean over pretty well and I was a bit surprised a few nights ago when I was cornering with my toe under the shifter.....and felt the to of my boot scrape the pavement!

One of the coolest things about the bike is that it is very quiet. I can ride the back roads near my home and get up to a pretty comfortable speed on the straights that I have to work at in the corners - and the folks in their yards often don't hear me coming until I am right in front of them.....and I wave and they wave back. It seems to be a good bike for establishing a friendly attitude toward motorcycles.

I haven't had any trouble staying awake on it. Grin
