hey failed a wof today, there is free movement backwards & forwards in the head of the fork (triple tree)

haven't looked at it yet - but just thought I'd ask if people know whats in there? adjusting shims or just a bearing that might be worn out?

The tension on the bearings can be adjusted at the top triple clamp.  The nut is part #18 in the diagram linked below.  You will need to loosen nut #5 before it can be adjusted.

I tried posting that link using my wife's Ipad while on the road yesterday.  Evidently the cut and paste works differently on that computer.

Anytime you want to know how things fit together....go look at an online parts diagram.

Here is the proper link:

ah yep the adjuster nut, I was looking at that last night. Just trying to figure out what to use to turn it..

Also thinking maybe I need to drop the whole thing out to inspect the bearings.. or just tighten it up a bit. I guess I'll tighten it up and if it doesn't feel right then I'll drop it out and have a look.
