Title: 2012 Savage Risers
Post by KennyG on 09/22/12 at 19:49:42

Gentlepersons,

Next week I hope to pickup a new 2012 CS 40. The first thing I must do is get rid of the long angled handlebar risers.

I am interested in what others have done who are tall and long in the arms.
:P

Easiest cheapest (free) turn the stock risers around. Gives you 2-3" more reach. Not enough? Grind the locating pins off the switch housings and rotate the bars down a bit. (still free).
After that you will be getting into different riser and handlebar combinations.
Stock the bike has about 6" of pull back. (1 1/2 from the risers and 4 1/2 from the bars) That's what you have to play with for free.

FREE is certainly worth a try. Thank you.

I had thought about machining the risers down to eliminate the bend in them and then replacing the threaded studs.

I wonder how much either change will affect the warranty?

If anyone has pictures of changes they have made to minimize the pull back it would be helpful for me to envision the change.

Shouldn't affect the warranty at all.

Thank you for the link to the earlier discussion that really covers handlebar positioning.

Definitely try flipping your risers around first. I did it and it's a lot more comfortable ride. Took all of ten minutes to do. Then if it's still not enough all you've wasted was a few minutes of your time.

Flipping the risers is a great idea.

It will certainly give me a reference point as to any additional changes I would like. Thank You :P
