Title: Re: Carbs 101 Post by Dave on 12/03/14 at 12:17:15 While the article is a pretty good one.....it is not inclusive of the Constant Velocity (CV) carb that is used on the Savage. The article also describes the "air screw" and ""fuel screw" for the idle mixture....the Savage carb is a "fuel screw". The chart at the end of the article has a correction factor for altitude and temperature....and you need to turn your fuel screw in the opposite direction of the air screw listed in the chart. Also only early models of the Savage had a needle with a clip and notches for adjustment. Later models had a needle with only a single notch, and a white spacer is used on top of the needle to control the height. We make adjustments by either reducing the thickness of the white spacer - or by replacing it with #4 machine screw flat washers. Three washers is the standard to try in place of the white spacer as a starting point. |

I noticed that at the bottom of the page as well. Had to resist clicking on it for fear of not getting anything done at work today. |
