Title: Decomp spring Post by Arty Dodger on 04/28/24 at 07:04:35 i got a bike and it looks like they were going to use a manual decomp lever but it doesn’t have the spring. I can’t find the spring so does anyone here have one they’d like to sell? Or would it be possible to make one or is something else? I doubt I’ll have to use it since I’m in Louisiana. Also, does anyone know if the shaft needs to be rotated towards you or the front of the bike? |
Title: Re: Decomp spring Post by LANCER on 04/28/24 at 14:33:32 After removing the system I just installed a 1.5-2” SS bolt; and if needed I just reach under the tank and push the bolt forward. There is a little resistance when pushing but it’s easily overcome. If you wish, shoot me an email and i can send you a photo of how it looks. I’ve had this setup for many years and have only used it twice to start my bike, and I could have just rocked the bike a little and likely started on the second try. There is no need for me to use it when starting my bike, it cranks just fine without raising the exhaust valves. This is an easy alternative to do to replace the stock setup, a bolt and a lock nut. |
Title: Re: Decomp spring Post by verslagen1 on 04/28/24 at 17:40:16 My spring just went flat on me and it kept bouncing the lever (manual) back forth causing lost of compression. So I removed the lever and the shaft found it's own happy spot. I may have 2 but it's going to take awhile to find it. |
