Title: EICMA 2017
Post by Tocsik on 11/08/17 at 06:05:07

If you haven't been watching the bikes unveiled at EICMA this year, you're really missing out.  Despite numerous stories recently about the decreasing motorcycle ridership in the US, it seems the rest of the world is still carrying on.  I posted about the Ducati Tracker recently but there have been a bunch of other releases, too.
Of interest to our particular group, check out the new Royal Enfield 650 twins, the Norton Dominator and Commando and the Benelli Imperiale 400.
Cheers.

There were a lot of impressive machines this year. The motorcycle industry finds itself at a point where they have to innovate to gain (regain) market share. I’m happy to see the focus on bikes in the 500-900cc range with top notch components. We could be on the brink of some very good times.

Never mind all those bikes Indian might be building for the American market a 1100cc street legal flat tracker , almost a mirror image of their 750 flat track racer. Wow does it look cool , I'm gonna have to sell a few bikes before I get one. Think they had one at that show(prototype). Don't worry guys I'll be keeping the Savage tracker. , you won't get rid of me that easy ! ;D

Yeah, I've been watching that Indian tracker.  It's pretty sweet.  Indian is doing some cool stuff lately and kicking HD in the pants.

They've been smoking Harley on the flat track circuit.

Tocsik, thanks for the posting.

I like the looks of the Norton Commando. Definitely reminds me of the original Commando 750, which came out in the late 60s. I wanted one, could not afford it at the time!

Interesting to see Royal Enfield expanding their range with a twin cylinder.  Royal Enfield is going places. I read they are now the biggest motorcycle manufacturer of motorcycles in the world.

You mean this Indian: http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/ftr1200 ? I believe it when I see it on a showroom floor. Polaris promised a "performance" bike for the Victory lineup and we got the Octane. Needless to say, I take every Polaris announcement with a huge grain of salt.

I like the Benelli, the engine looks a bit like the LS650, and the "Standard" type model is appealing as well.

I wonder if we can bore that out to 650?

I just noticed that it even has a center stand.

And there is a nice sized space for a tiny turbo just forward of the cylinder then maybe it will have 26 H/P. Just rip out that boat anchor and put a severely modified Savage engine in it. It does have a vintage look to it but the tank most likely doesn't have a adequate capacity.

the 402s has a 16L tank, hopefully the 400 would be close.
