Title: Been there
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 07/16/16 at 05:42:20

Done that,
I'm pretty sure that bike is coming home. I put 20,000 miles on the other one. I know exactly how much fun 70 is without a windscreen.  I'm small, about 5'6", 145 pounds, and I don't want a lexan garage door strapped to the bike. I want something that knocks some wind off my chest.
I don't do the search well, clues, websites, much appreciated.

Justin,

The National Fly Screen keeps most of the wind off of my chest and I get very few bugs on my face shield so I think it is doing about what you are looking for.

I painted mine on the backside to match the ivory paint on my fuel tank.

do you have the buckhorns or the drags? if buckhorns, I'd go with the spitfire, with drags, either the stocker, or someone found one like the stocker on Amazon I think for like $50
any of those will do just what you want

I took a sportscreen and took 4" off the top so it's a flyscreen on steroids.
But I do like my flyscreen.

Versy, you've got what Kenny showed me?
You're a lot bigger guy than I am, aren't you? If so, and it works out for you, then it otta be great for me, wouldn't you think?

It's a 2002, so, I dunno what bars it's wearing. If not drag bars now, it probably will be soon, but I Think I want to have the shield shipped down there and ride home behind it.

So, will the Flyscreen mount up to the buckhorn then swap bars and still work out? Wouldn't wanna hafta hack something off or drill to mount then have a mess later.
They are too expensive for messing up.

Okay, went back, looked at Kennys setup.
Bars don't matter.
Probably keep the buckhorns, IF they don't make holding the bike up harder than the drags..

Versy, you got buckhorns on the flyscreen bike?
Not finding the sportscreen, got a link?

Thanks guys,, I'm Excited!

Yep I got one almost like it... dark tint instead of white.

It mounts to the forks, and as you can see on kenny's, there's about 4" it can slide up and quite a bit of angling can be done.  pretty easy to install and adjust.

You might be able to get the turbulence over your head, but for me I like it on my chest, off the helmet.  Gives me a little more air in the helmet.

THat's good looking, I like that..
Where would I look for a new one?
Or is that
All There? If 35 bucks will solve it,, I might jump on it.. But I Need it
Down in Galveston.
I don't want to buy it, ship or haul it down.
When the shipping and billing address don't match up it causes a mess sometimes..
But if I can save substantial money,, I might jump through hoops.

Justin,

you will not have any trouble carrying the National Fly Screen as it ships in a flat box.

So you are getting the Fly Screen ?

Since you like it, why not? You are bigger than I am,, if it is good enough for you, it should do me fine, wouldn't ya think?

As long as I can get Some air, but not get blown off,  and it looks like it will come off easy enough, if I'm just running around town and want the wind..

Any recommendations on
Where to buy?

Justin,

I bought mine off of eBay but it is marked National so I am not sure if it is a knockoff or the genuine article.

Well, how long ago?
How's it holding up?
Is it easy to take care of and not mess it up?

Justin,

I have had my Fly Screen for several years and had it on a Honda and now on the S40.

The Fly Screen is holding up well and still looks new. The reason I painted it was to make it look like part of my bike. I painted the back side of the glass and have had no scratches on the front side and the chrome is still like new.

If I could have a smoke colored rather than the clear I would, but the smoke was not available at the time.
