Title: Password resets
Post by old_rider on 06/23/16 at 22:14:11

Ok, so I log onto my email today and see that 3 of my motorcycle forums have automatically reset my passwords.
I am wondering if the program that they use have been hacked...
I tried manually logging into the sites, but the passwords seem to have been reset and even the ones that are in the email won't work.

Anyone else have this problem?
Not with this site... but other sites.
I find it extremely weird that all 3 sites use similar software and all 3 have issued a new password.

Not exactly the same problem but on this site I can sign in with my Mac but not with my phone.
On my eBay account I cannot sign in with my Mac but I can with my phone.
I've been dealing with this for a while now.

My email has a notification that my password is changed.
But, it Doesn't say What motorcycle forum. The user name isn't quite right.. so, I'll try the other forum.. but I won't be clicking the link I got.

Auto sign in got me back after I closed it out.
Both forums. I'm ditching the email..

It's probably part of the Vertical Scope hack:http://thenextweb.com/insider/2016/06/15/45m-passwords-stolen-verticalscope-forums-massive-data-breach/#gref. They run a log of the enthusiast forums.

Does this mean that I have been hacked?
Is there any action i should take?

No problem here -- John is not a minon of some big company.

Yes, it was from Verticalscope.  I got an e-mail from the Smart car forum.

Yeah.... the Road Glide forum explained it was a reset to protect against a new hack that was out.
All 3 sites run similar software just different versions.

All good to go now.... :)

You personally haven't been hacked.

If you have an ID on any of the Vertical Scope boards, you may want to change your password them on something you don't use anyplace else.

This http://www.verticalscope.com/about-us/notice-of-data-breach.html# is the official word about what happened from that company.

How do I know if I am on a vertical scope board?

Well,I did join a few forums.. The Yamaha Raptor, when I was doing that top end, and Maybe the one for a friend's four wheelers ,  but I don't know what to do if I could find what I joined.

All the forums I had to reset were actually located on the motorcycle.com site.
They lease out spots for motorcycle groups and have preset software so it makes it easy to create your page.

I also had to reset my Walmart password today, went from 8 to 12 characters. With all the different type letters and characters.
