Title: cam chain tensioners
Post by procrastinator on 12/06/13 at 16:00:30

Hey guys new here to the site my question is I have a 2000 ls650 and it has a little over 4000 miles on it and runs great. But I heard something I didn't know. That there's a problem with the cam chain tensioner. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to correct or modify the tensioner. And I also noticed a very small oil leak on the head but I can't tell where it's coming has anyone else had this problem?? THANKS to all that can help me out.  :)

procrastinator, I'm a newbie too and when I lost my key I decided to check on all the stuff that the forum said to check out since I couldn't ride anyway. Sure enough my cam chain tensioner was about 2mm from falling out. I also had a seal in the head oil leak (there's a tech tips tutorial on how to fix it, but I had mine done at a shop before I got the bug to do my own maintenance. It cost me about 140.00).  So far I'm feeling pretty good about wrenching on the bike. It's not much more complicated than my 52 VW bus engine was and this forum is REALLY helpful. There's a ton of stuff in the archives I'm still finding out. Welcome!
