There is no "caravan of illegals" heading to the US from Mexico. Trumpedo made that up to scare his minions. In fact, since Trumpedo tarted his second term, more people are leaving the US for Mexico than are entering the US from Mexico.

I always thought it was used in the very early 1800's in the USA. And longer in other Nations.
And Trump has used it to describe
large contingents of people
