Motorcycle friend was killed in accident

Last week a friend of mine was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was 71 years old and an experienced rider. He was in good health and his mind was sharp - all of his friends are in shock that this happened to Tim. He was a careful rider and wasn't somebody that would have taken chances.
He was riding close to his house that is in a rural part of Ohio north of Cincinnati. He had a STOP sign, and according to the news articles he was going to make a left turn and go south - and this required him to cross the two northbound lanes to get into the median area between the north/south lanes. He evidently failed to yield to a vehicle traveling north and pulled out in front of them. Barring some mechanical failure of the clutch - he evidently just didn't see the oncoming vehicle and pulled out in front of them.
Be careful out there - look twice, don't take chances, ride safe!
Here is a news article:

This is the Google Map link to the intersection:

Attached is an aerial photo of the intersection.

We have a couple of similar intersections out on US-64 . They are Dangerous ! The speed limit is 55 and folks run 70mph through there all the time. It bothers me that local law enforcement seems to not care !
Just ride the speed limit , and smile !

Sorry for your loss, Dave. It's a sobering reminder of the risks out there.
Be safe everyone!
