I wanna hear it from Honda !

I just started seeing another utube video. GB500 is coming in 2027 , all the same old crap , 500cc upgrade to the 350cc. If you ask me they missed the mark by years. RE  with its 350 & 450 has captured a chunk of global market. BSA now coming here or already here , another option that cuts into Hondas smaller slice , is it even at all profitable for Honda. I don’t think so ! Don’t hold your breath , you don’t look good in blue. Honda builds good bikes and I would rather a GB500 (single) than a BSA or a RE. Wish they would but that’s as far as that goes. Build my own , always an option !

I did a quick look, and it appears even the GB350 has not made it to the US yet.  At 20HP it does not have adequate HP for me to go buy one.....I have developed a strong opinion that to be an adequate motorcycle for how I ride - 30HP is a minimum.  There are times I have to get on 65-70mph highways and a 20HP bike just cannot comfortably do that (I don't want to run a bike full throttle at the redline).  Perhaps Honda will bring a GB500 to the US as it will be more capable of being able to keep up with US traffic - however I would not count on it.....there are a large number of motorcycles in the world that never come to the US market.

Lasts Friday night when I went out to dinner I saw a blue Royal Enfield Guerulla 450 parked on the street.  It was a nice looking little motorcycle.  I looked it up and it has 40HP, 40NM of torque and is reported to get 70mpg.  The downside is that for a little single it appears a bit heavy at 382 pounds dry and 402 pounds fueled up and ready to ride....that may feel just fine in practice as the bike does not appear to be top heavy.  I don't have a problem with it being water cooled - I believe that is necessary for a modern fuel efficient engine with 11.5:1 compression to make this kind of HP and be durable.

I am not likely going to run out and buy one - my F800GT has 90HP and weighs 402 pounds dry and 470 pounds ready to ride, and it can haul the wife and I comfortably at legal (and criminal) speeds when asked to do so.

I will keep working on my Retro Standard Savage - it will likely be able to satisfy my needs for a big single....and I know how to work on it!

I didn’t know if  the RSS was still in progress , I haven’t heard a thing about it in so long I was afraid to ask. I don’t think I could build another Savage , it would only be another street tracker. A friend of mine when we were in a group of like minded bikers , he would introduce me as Ruttly , Ruttly builds street trackers ! It would be nice if Yamaha or even Kawasaki would throw their hats in too. A SR500 with a happy button and a 500cc , 4 valve , L/cooled & fuel injected or a similar Kawi. I do have an engine , carb & exhaust , harness with electronics. Long before Ryca I was already eyeing the Savage for a tracker build , honestly cause it had a happy button. I was building trackers before it became a thing. I love their designations SR- Street Roadster , SS- Street Scrambler , FT-Flat Tracker , my personal favorite GT- Gods Thumper ( ok maybe that’s not exactly correct ) but I almost tagged the tracker with a GT logo that has absolutely all logos removed.  Half Pint has a grey frame with black body work it’s a Gold Star SS , renamed the Black Star Street Scrambler. Not quite a tracker. But still a small displacement back road blaster.
