Electric issues

8 years ago I bought a 06' with 998 miles on it, ran fine. Now I am getting it out of storage. After cleaning the carb, it runs fine.
BUT, when you turn off the key it keeps running and you have to use the kill switch to stop the engine.
With the key off at idle I can see the running lights flicker. So it is turning everything off but the spark.
I had the tank off to install a GPS speedo, but only hooked and unhooked the plug going to yhe speedo. I have checked and wiggled all the connections I can find to no avail.
Anyone ever have this on thier bike?

That is weird - and not something I have any experience with.

The first thing I would look at is the electrical switch.  Disconnect the connector and see if for some reason it is not disconnecting the circuit when it is switched "OFF".

Looking at the running lights, they are steady with the switch on, but when I turn the switch off they flicker like they are running off just the dynamo.  And there is no drain on the battery with the switch off. Monday I will unconnect and reconnect all the plugs I can find, and cross my fingers.

Ignition switch is easy to disassemble, clean , lube & reassemble. Check battery cables too ! It’s a loose or corroded connector or switch. You’ll find it.
