Quiet down shorty slash cut muffler
04/16/26 at 09:51:23

My last HD muffler on the S40 bit the dust and I replaced it with a Milwaukee Twins slash cut shorty. It does not muffle nearly as much as I would like. Any recommendations on a cheap and easy way to quiet it down a bit?

Get a HD Dyna or Sporty Muffler.

If the muffler goes straight through.....it really has nothing to "muffle" with.

You may be able to install some form of a baffle to help.  You will need to order based on the size of your tubing.  Here are a few links to the kind of thing that might work:

I bought a piece of stainless tubing with the holes in it. Cut , shape , weld up my own baffles. They run so much better with some back pressure. The core in trackers muffler is repackable , helps keep it to a tolerable level , while others are just a baffle without packing. I can always redesign it to be packed if needed. Some aren’t real good looking but are quite functional. They are hidden in the pipe or muffler anyways , out of sight. It is a major PIA making exhaust & baffles but I get it how I want it and that’s real important to me. A sexy exhaust can make or break the builds final appearance , so yes it’s very important.     Cool
