So, I bought this 8 gallon Kobalt air compressor new about 5 years ago. Humid Houston air has not been kind to the tank. My not relieving the tank after each use also hasn’t been kind.
Today I opened the valve. And yup, rusty water blew out…
AI seems to think this Kobalt can last 10-15 years (with regular maintenance) and “occasional” use. Is it likely to develop a small leak or pin holes or will it just go kaboom one day?
It still seems solid at this point. No leaks or visible damage. I don’t know if any maintenance or rust removal can be done??? Remove the valve and swish around some Evapo-Rust or Ospho??
Shame on me for not draining it after each use. It’s been a great little compressor doing everything I need it for. Mostly tires and occasionally running an impact driver to remove big stubborn nuts and bolts.
