"... A homeowner in Cambridge, Maryland hired a roofing crew for a three-day job worth about ten thousand dollars. When the work was nearly done, she reportedly called federal immigration agents. ICE showed up and detained six Guatemalan nationals right on her property.

Video from the scene, livestreamed by one of the workers, captures the moment agents arrived. Men on the roof and ladders react with shock as officers in tactical gear move in.

One worker shouts in Spanish, "She called the law on us and now we're totally screwed."Another says, "The homeowner turned us in."

A third adds, "We were just working. She hired us and now this."
The footage shows agents directing the men down from the roof. Workers are seen sitting on tarps on the ground as officers check documents. One man tells the camera, "My wife is pregnant. What am I going to do?"

The workers were arrested for immigration violations. No official statement has confirmed the exact timing or motive for the call, but the video makes clear the detention happened while the crew was still on site.

This case puts a spotlight on illegal immigration in everyday American trades like construction. Employers who knowingly hire workers without legal status risk exactly this outcome. Federal law exists to protect American jobs and wages from being undercut by those who should not be working here in the first place.


Apparently the skilled person, who spent years, and a lot of time/money perfecting his/her trade, is irrelevant.
