Shut down

Used to be, People were consoled to have 3-4 mounts of money to saved for rent/house payment, utilities, food, gas, etc. What ever was need to survive. It was to be put in a saving account, never to be used except in a emergency.

It was to be built over time, starting when you were out of High School.

So now, the 30+ year olds, do NOT have that 'nut'.

All because the WOKE, DFI, FDS SOCIALISTS said so.

Wrong again, Sprung. The wages are now so low that it's impossible to work, pay for life's necessities, and have anything left to save.

So, blaming anything "liberal" is a d@mned LIE. It's actually the predatory capitalists lobbying to keep wages low.

Just one."... Average TSA Officer salary: ~$46,000–$55,000 ..."

Sounds like someone wants to keep up with the 'Jones'.

Or in other words, they are living beyound their means.

(Cause the UL, DFI, WOKE DFI SOCIALISTS said they should, as long as they say;  GIMME GIMME GIMME)

Can you read ?

Just the first ULR:

"... More than one in five (21 percent) don’t save any of their annual income. ..."

"... 20 percent save only 5 percent or less of what they make,  ..."

Don't need to look any further, cause it is just, 'Keep Up With The Jones".

   (Cause of, Gimmmmmmmie !!!!!)

I'll say this so that even MAGATs can understand: If you do not make enough money to live on, you don't save any money.

I think it is a combination of both.

My opinion is that it is a combination of both.  This post is an opinion.

Many humans over spend.  Many humans also live in a geographical location that prohibits standard savings.  This is an opinion.

An example is a young couple that lives down the road from me that both drive used cars, and grow food where they can.  They live in a 210sq foot apartment that runs them $850 with trash paid for.  Utilities cost another $311 averaged annually.  That's just over $1000 a month for a tiny apartment.

Add healthcare at $750 month, then general expenses and they have about 100-200 left over each month.  If they do nothing but work and stay home they can save at most $2400 annually.  That's enough for 1 month of emergency funds.  It would take them 3 years of zero spending to save for 3 months of emergency funds - if they just work normal hours.

I couldn't imagine taking 3 years to get 3 months savings in the bank on a dual-income standard paycheck.

The closest home is on the market for 247,000, and is 1100sq feet with a detached carport.  They need at least 17,000 down to purchase that home and it will cost about 1,957 per month as a mortgage.

They would need to save for 7 years for a down payment on a 2 bedroom home that would use up most their income.  So moving out of the apartment into the 2 bedroom is technically keeping up with the Jones' as it would use too much of their annual income.

This of course leaves out better jobs and overtime if available.  All I am saying is 20 years ago one could typically save more money faster than they can today and home purchases took up less of one's annual income.
