I had a RE650 Super Meteor but its Totaled now and is in a Salvage yard in southern AL somewhere ?

Well , Those 650cc motors are rated at 47HP.  I believe that is the upper limit for the beginner driver's license in parts of Europe .
I said that to say this :   The air intake system is blocked by a air vent.  On the Super Meter I removed the air vent and replaced it with the DNA Air intake System... The upper RPM went wild !   So I believe up near 60 HP is more like the True HP  and the low number is a legal trick to sell more bikes.
It's only 430 pounds and the Mufflers are about 40 pounds of it.  So I can see where a light weight Exaust System and the DNA air intake System would change the Interceptor to a "Different Bike"  Not that I'm a Holligan type person anymore !  Roll Eyes  Since I can't RIDE for a while - the more I think about the Bikes I have , the happier I am with them.

For the last 57 years I've been a "Year around ridder" and would take a Sanity Ride around the Country Block ( 10 mile loop) Daily except on Rain Days. Well ,
I haven't got to go for a Bike ride since mid August.   So , I'm struggling to  keep my sanity intacted .    It will be February before I'll be able to grab my Helmet and a section of Sanity for an Hour or so.
I keep thinking about something Dave said one time : ... "YOU DON'T HAVE TO RIDE TO SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH YOUR BIKE , CLEANING THE BIKE COUNTS ALSO" .  Smiley

I got the Windshield and Touring Seat for the Interceptor today !  Putting new parts on is a lot like Cleaning the Bike !   Wink

MM, my ‘71  BSA 650 is also rated at 47HP from the factory, and weight at 390lbs… basically identical to your RE.
But mine is a kicker and tickler, unfortunately.
But also, it has tons of nostalgia.

Almost forgot, the cam profile has a really great kick in the pants from 70mph and up in 4th gear.  Zoom zoom 😎🏍️

I’ve only gone up to 95mph with it so far, but it’s still accelerating strongly with nery a let-up.  I think it would easily hit 105, which matches the actual tests done back when they were new, and maybe a bit more.
