New Bike Again

Hello Guys  Smiley

Well ya'll might already know : My Super Meteor is totaled ,it hit the ground so hard that the motor mounting bolts broke.   It has a lot of other stuff broken and bent too.  Progressive Insurance moved it to a yard in Southern Alabama . Embarrassed

I really liked the  Royal Enfield 650 motor.   It has the 270 degree crank , uses a small radiator oil cooler and the smoothness is top notch , Power is more than enough and maintance is S.S. (super-simple) !

Moving on ;  I've found a New 2023  (less than 5 miles) Royal Enfield INT 650 for a price that makes me want to "get it before someone else does".  The Dealer droped the price another $500. last week to clear it out (I've been watching it for a couple of months).  The Older I Get ... The Lighter Bike I need , This one is only 437 pounds WET  my 650Super Meteor was 538 pounds. Wink

So encourage me to go get it or let someone else scoop it up ?   Huh

MM:

I know you are a "feet forward" kind of rider......while I prefer having my feet underneath me (or even a bit back).

Would you be comfortable on this Royal Enfield?

When I rode with Armen a few years back his friend had a Royal Enfield 650 like the one you posted, and he loved it!

I'm picturing Viking Bags on it and a luggage rack with a trunk  with a touring windshield.
A Belt drive system using the Harley type belts is avaible for the INT Enfield too.

It reminds me of a Honda 1971 CB 350 I had long , long ago with those mid pegs.

The Bike I would like don't existence yet .   I'd like a GB500 Honda (A GB350 with 500cc single air cooled 400 pound bike - mid pegs also.

I might be like your friend who liked his INT ?  Huh

Michael, you better hurry and get that bike before someone else gets it.
That dealer might go down another $500 if you walk in with cash.
Ya know ?! 😏

Tomorrow would be a good day to do that.

Guerrila 450 is coming to town and is well spoken of.
Apart from the accident(sorry!), what's your opinion of RE quality?

what's your opinion of RE quality?

Hello Zip

I went and got it Friday.   This is my third Enfield and I'll say :  The Enfield's are as good or better quality than any manufacturer I've ever had.  Smiley

I think the Guzzi bikes are the best "thought-out" bikes I've ever had.
I think the Japanese bikes are all about equal and well built ( as good as the Enfield bikes) .  The trouble with the Japanese bikes for me is the liquid cooling ... Yes the 650 Enfield motor does have an oil cooler - but it is such a sweet motor that I'll live with the small radiator .   Smiley

I'm not ridding the NEW BIKE yet or the 350 Meteor either.  One side of my skull is missing... skin ... a scalp ... then brain is all there is.   I wear a helmet at anything above walking speed and sometimes at walking speed too.  Ridding with a Skid-lid and "Tee-shirt" was not a good thing to do.

I'm getting a skull plate put in the 11th of Dec.(Damage was done 15 Aug.)   so  It will be Spring before I should suit up and take a bike ride , but we all know Spring time is not the time to buy a new bike ... Winter is the best time .

It's a New 2023 with 2.1 miles on it.  I was told they sold it a couple of month ago , then the buyer's financing fell through  .
..........................

Hay Lancer , it sits like a 1971 BSA  !   Smiley Smiley  with a left hand shifter   Wink

Congrats of the bike MM. I hope you love it.

Hope you are taking care of yourself and following doctor's instructions. Well, after december 11 people will definitely be right when they say you are hard headed. Shocked

Thanks Buddy

december 11 people will definitely be right when they say you are hard headed

Yes there have been a few folks who acted surprised I didn't quit ridding and start "Acting my AGE" !  Roll Eyes

I think I'll like it .   It's near double the Torque and sits the same as my old 1971 CB350 twin .  I always thought it was one of the best handling machines I've ever had... Guzzi V7 was the best !  All three - mid pegs bikes.

I got my modular helmet today in the mail.   It has a built in tail light ! (2 AAA's) LED Bar -- ON-Fast blink-Slow blink, flip down sun glasses , 4 vents , and is white.   I get smothered wearing it around the house, hopefully while ridding with it will be better ?    I also got a 3/4 Chrome helmet with a flip up eye guard shield.   So I've got a hand full of skid lids to deck a rate my shop with ?
But no more Skid-lid stuff, it's just not enough !  Wink  Six months of being Grounded from two wheels is a long time !!
