lets grab it by the horns and look at child abuss as as a phenomenon in itself.
It's good that you're starting about pedophilia we never had a good discusion about that here.
I think that's the most under-the-table subject that society struggles with.
There is an enormous denial about it, both among victims and perpetrators.
And of course it's not tied to a political preference.
Most perpetrators are known to the victim and in the family. Then comes school and sports. And only then the predators who abuse children on a large scale. But that's the smallest group.
The official figures don't lie: 1 in 2 girls and 1 in 5 boys experience some form of sexual abuse before they turn 18.
As said, most victims know their perpetrator, and a significant number experience repetition. These facts emphasize the urgency of prevention, signaling and adequate assistance.
But what about the number of men who abuse children?

That has never been officially investigated

.
There are only figures of how many men are convicted of child abuse.
Here it comes 1:9000 men are convicted of abuse each year.
The estimates of agencies that deal with detecting child abuse show a completely different figure and that is 1-3% of adult men have a sexual preference for children under the age of 13.
And that too does not match the official number of victims.
Just go to a group of mothers and ask them what they think the figures are.
A realistic estimate by phygologists and sexologists is that one in 4 men abuse children and 25% of them are under the age of 21.
And that figure is correct, with the number of victims.
That means that if you see a group of 16 men standing somewhere, there are 4 men among them who abuse or have abused children. Discuss that at a birthday party and watch the reactions of the men in the room.
I assisted Tantra trainings for years. That is actually a spiritual course. But we could better speak of a course on how to deal with sexual trauma. Because almost all participants and certainly all women had been victims of insest, abuse or rape.
The impact that this has on society is also greatly underestimated.
