I received the cam.  Excellent condition.  Looks to be good quality.  Unfortunately, it's not a DR650 cam.  I was hoping that the lift and timing would be in accordance with Suzuki specs.  If that was the case, we could probably machine the steady bearing journal to the correct size.  But the lobe lift is way under spec, and as we suspected, the steady bearing is grossly oversize.  Since the lift is under spec, no sense wasting time checking the valve timing.

Chinese cam on left, OEM DR650 cam on right.

Lobe lift on the stock OEM DR650 cam is .248" int/.260" exh.

Lobe lift on the stock OEM LS650 cam is .237" int/.247" exh.

Lobe lift on the Chinese cam is .195" int/.197" exh.

The steady bearing journal is .982" on the OEM cams and 1.114" on the Chinese cam.

Too bad for us.

There are slight variations in the lobe width, but they don't appear to be a problem.  It would probably work OK if it weren't for the oversize journal and anemic lift.

Weird that this stuff can be sold to the world with claims of being something that it isn't.

"Looks like it is just another case of internet "cammed spam"! Angry

Thanks for checking it out - now go hit the "return" button on Amazon.

There is also a photo with dimensions.
Below are a number of reactions from people who ordered it.

I think it would be better not to modify it and use it.

Reviews:
The camshaft looks good, needs some machining, but I am convinced it will be fine. Lower cam lobes mean lower power.

cam lift IS less than original Suzuki part up to 90 95 re and RSE model. It will reduce hp....

Very bad, put this in my engine and turned the engine over by hand and the cam broke. I bought a new Suzuki part and it worked fine so this was very port quality

I got mine today also, and can verify Mikes observations, plus that on the one I received, the cam lobes are offset 2mm axially towards the cam sprocket.
Probably fine quality metallurgically, but dimentionally: A royal piece of junk.

Booooooo 👎🏼 make sure you leave a review there on Amazon so others don’t buy it and expect it to work and such.  But that sucks that it won’t work or isn’t even the right one they’re advertising

Wouldn't surprise me that he didn't know the steady bearing was too big.  I am surprised he didn't notice the cam not fitting in the head properly....I would suspect the cam broke when he tightened the head cover and the bearings bent the cam....as the right side would not fit down into the steady bearing properly.

I hadn't thought that far.
But that also means the camshaft is cast instead of drop forged.
Or is the original also cast?

Dave, no way anyone would try to install the head cover.  The cam just plain won't go in the head.  It's grossly skewed.

Zevenenergie, the OEM cams are cast.  I assume they flame harden after grinding.

As I previously mentioned, the quality of the Chinese cam looks good.  The casting looks good and the machining looks good.  I think it's a cam for some other engine, possibly a DR250.  They did a nice job on it, it's just not for a DR650.
