Atlantic texts

This post is an opinion.  In my opinion, obviously The Atlantic published these to protect themselves given the insistence there was "no classified" information distributed.  This could be true, in my opinion, also it could be considered SBU.  It's borderline in my opinion.  This is an opinion.

while not classified they were certainly sensitive topics
prime example of this administration's' ineptitude for not using a secure site
remember the uproar over Hillarys' emails
we won't compare the two

It is bizarre that this comes out. It is also a sign of the political division and how that can weaken a country. But I also find it spectacular to read how these kinds of things are discussed. In any case, this information ended up in the hands of the enemy and they can learn from it that should never have happened. But it did.

It,s a big fuc kup.

I read all the texts and no reasonable person would describe these as war plans and placed American lives in jeopardy

It was stupid for those on the chain to not look at the names, but we’ve all probably hit reply to all with content we didn’t want everyone copied on an email to see, but honestly, I’ve never done that with what I consider serious and confidential information.

It was a screw up but nothing was jeopardized and no except the poor staffer, who I read was in charge of establishing the group, deserves punishment over it.

I never heard of the software Signal before that apparently is commonly used. I have no idea if it was appropriate to be used. In today’s world clearly there’s gotta be some means of instant communication for this group. I’ve read it wasn’t approved for use, and I’ve read it was. No idea. Has anyone n here used Signal?

I would say not imminently, this is my opinion.  Given that the deployment devices used, and pre-indicated on the texts have been shot down by Houthis combined with the requirement for SOCOMM to attempt recovery or confirm said devices, it does put US Servicemen on the ground.  Not contractors, but Americans.  Also the intel was obviously ground-level feedback, however those may not have been "American" by definition.  Unlikely by my opinion as SOCOMM already posted they are using SEAL in the specific region.

"War plans" no.  Potential to jeopardize a mission that would require American humans to interact on the ground - yes.

Signal is not approved for this type of communication.  It may be in the future, but is not as of now.  I personally handle C and SBU data and Signal is definitely not on the approved list.  If I used it to indicate where we are placing equipment for an SF compliment for instance I would be fired.  That is not an opinion, I would be fired no question.

Thank you for that information. And I guess it was about two hours from the time of the text that listed the equipment to be used, and when the attack actually took place, correct?

That's what being said and my opinion is this is probably fairly accurate.
