I read all the texts and no reasonable person would describe these as war plans and placed American lives in jeopardy
I would say not imminently, this is my opinion. Given that the deployment devices used, and pre-indicated on the texts have been shot down by Houthis combined with the requirement for SOCOMM to attempt recovery or confirm said devices, it does put US Servicemen on the ground. Not contractors, but Americans. Also the intel was obviously ground-level feedback, however those may not have been "American" by definition. Unlikely by my opinion as SOCOMM already posted they are using SEAL in the specific region.
"War plans" no. Potential to jeopardize a mission that would require American humans to interact on the ground - yes.
I never heard of the software Signal before that apparently is commonly used. I have no idea if it was appropriate to be used.
Signal is not approved for this type of communication. It may be in the future, but is not as of now. I personally handle C and SBU data and Signal is definitely not on the approved list. If I used it to indicate where we are placing equipment for an SF compliment for instance I would be fired. That is not an opinion, I would be fired no question.
