I avoided living where Needing four wheel drive was just reality. As a young person I was in Oklahoma on and off. Tornado alley,Naah,, We have them occasionally, but in twenty years I haven't seen any very close. A hurricane Could get this far north, about 300 miles north of Galveston,, ..
I can't imagine living where fire is such a huge threat. If they would stop the stupid, clear dead wood, clean up brush and cut fire breaks, this annual insanity could be handled a lot better.

what's a fire break to a 70mph wind? good thing hawaii is so far away.

did you know the sands from the sahara are carried across the atlantic on the wind?

fire breaks around properties should be the width of the disk, Mathis plow (3 to 5 feet), or blade (6 to 12 feet). These widths are usually sufficient to contain most creeping or slowly moving ground fires, but will not stop crown fires.

Put our prison population and homeless to work. And that’s not how urban renewal is supposed to work. But it’s definitely a massive disaster affecting thousands of people for a long time. In turn we will all have to pay one way or another for the recovery !
