...  Roll Eyes  ...

I don't know ... there were a couple of them I was glad to be rid of !   Smiley

I had a three Yamaha's - all of them ended with Alt. problems . I was glad to see them gone.  They all three had brush type alt's that burned out and new rotors cost more than the bikes were worth.
One of them an RD250 I put a  permanent magnet in place of the electro magnet and it work for non-headlight running but ran the battery down about 3 hours after dark.  Tongue

I had 2 Yamahas.

The V-star 650 I had was a great bike. Zero issues.

The second was a Road Star 1600 and it was a piece of crap. It could be because I got a very crappy example. Maybe not well taken care of it. Never owned another Yamaha after that.

I loved the way my three Yamaha's ran.

1st   Was a twin jet 100cc  .   Two cylinder Two cycle with a Brush type generator.  The rotor burned out.  https://www.cmsnl.com/yl1_model16878/info/?cjevent=bd9606f6ac6311ef810c055d0a...

2nd was a RD250cc .  Two cylinder Two Cycle with an alternator - Surface brush electro magnet comparable to a modern auto alternator - the rotor burned out.
So I got a Honda rotor and cut it to fit .   It wasn't strong enough but worked just fine for day-time ridding.   If I still had it ... I'd run an LED headlight and all would be just fine.

3rd   was a  SX-650 , same alt. as the RD250 also the same problem.

Permanent Magnet rotor from then on only !   Even now.

Nope , but when the weather warms back up I think we should go !

I know where two guys could find  spare bedrooms with beds in them , and  there is more camping room than we have Bikes !

My desk-top is full of short cuts .

Yep. I'm sure Hammer would be tearing up the highway if he comes to join us anywhere.

I've never had a Yamaha. Both my Honda and my S40 seem to be pretty good bikes. I did have an issue last night though. Went to my daughter's house late afternoon (about 25 minute ride) then came back early evening and apparently somewhere along the way my headlight bulb burned out. Twas not fun especially in the dark no traffic roads.  Shocked

seems to be a common problem on bikes. I have never had it happen with an LED though. Funny enough, I had a sweet 2019 sportster a while back. Got a letter in the mail saying they would replace the headlight fixture for free. Oh well I already had a nice LED fixture in there .

I think it's Sealight but I forgot. I found an LED that was guaranteed to work on our bikes. works great. It doesn't have the best of seal but boy can I see everything. Riding around at night with the stock light... maybe im just blind

For now I just replaced the bulb. But I agree, the LED headlights are so much better. My S40 has an LED headlight. I guess I should order one for the Honda. And like MM says, I should carry a good flashlight in my saddlebags. Or maybe there is some sort of spotlight that can connect to the battery tender wires?!?

Planning ahead is Good !   Smiley

Not that I do it enough ... I guess none of us plan ahead enough !!

I keep a re-chargeable little light in my tank bag "Just-in-case" ?

but

I'd have to pull my phone light out to find the flash light !   Grin
Life goes on  no matter how I plan things  !!  Roll Eyes
